IFCC is an international organisation which represents the clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine fields worldwide. Their mission is to be the “leading organisation” in these fields. The IFCC aims to enhance the level and quality of diagnosis and therapy for patients around the world. The organisation communicates with its many members and the public about their scientific and educational achievements in order to improve knowledge in the fields of diagnosis and laboratory medicine.

The British In Vitro Diagnostics Association (BIVDA)

BIVDA is the “national trade association for companies with major involvement and interest in the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry”. This organisation represents manufacturers and distributors of IVDs in the UK. However, it is not solely for UK companies, all IVD companies are eligible to join BIVDA. BIVDA raises awareness of the clinical and cost utility of diagnostics in providing effective healthcare within the UK. BIVDA also provide a comprehensive range of support services for its members, which now represents over 90% of the industry.

Asia-Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (APFCB)

The APFCB is a federation of 16 national and area associations of clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine in the Asia-Pacific region. The APFCB provides support for its members and actively raises awareness of the IVD industry within the Asia-Pacific region in order to promote more effective healthcare through the use of quality diagnostics.

IVD Australia

IVD Australia represents multinational companies, local distributors and Australian manufacturers of IVDs. IVD Australia was formed in 2009 and remains a not-for-profit organisation. The main aim of IVD Australia is to “promote the safe and effective use of IVDs within the Australia community and to advance the interests of its members”. It is very active in representing the interests of its members to governments and other important institutions within Australia and overseas. IVD Australia will only promote quality in vitro diagnostics.
